HISTORY OF BARANGAY SABANG

The name Sabang originated long ago when the river was full of water. The rushing water flowing into the sea significantly affected the lives of the people. The inhabitants of the area were concerned about the noise created by the running water, so they decided to call the place “Sabang”, derived from the Cebuano word “SABA,” meaning noise.

Another version of the origin of the name Sabang comes from the word “SABA.” which refers to the most popular variety of bananas in the province. Since ancient times, Sabang has been abundant with this type of banana, attracting many people who came to buy “SABA.” As a result, the place became known as Sabang, meaning a place where Saba bananas are abundant.
